Lucky Penny Music evolved from the desire to offer high quality ukuleles and other stringed instruments to the public at competitive prices , without compromising quality or features doing it. Most ukuleles offered for sale currently in the US market are either good or cheap . Never both. We think you should be able to get a quality instrument without breaking the bank, so we worked with some of the best manufacturers in the business designing each instrument with the highest quality at the lowest possible prices.
As an example, Lucky Penny sells ukuleles with solid quartersawn AA grade Mahogany bodies, high quality vintage style tuners, bound bodies, real Rosewood fingerboards and bridges, fully set up and ready to play , with a quality case included, with a list price of under $220.00 and a street price of under $130.00 ! The closest competitor we could find sells theirs with a street price of $170.00 PLUS the cost of the case !
Every ukulele in the Lucky Penny line has been designed to compete spec for spec against any ukulele sold on the market today and to be priced well below anything of similar quality. Our ukes have list prices between $39.95 - $399.95 and street prices of between $24.95 - $239.95 . These instruments compete favorably with ukes selling for as much as twice the price.
We don't claim our ukuleles are from some exotic island location. We are located right smack dab in the middle of the country near Kansas City, Missouri . We don't manufacture our ukes here but most of our Hawaiian sounding competitors don't make theirs in Hawaii either. Most ukuleles under $500.00, including ours, are made in China. The difference from one to another is the design, the features and the setup. We choose the finest designs, load up on features, we check each and every uke before it leaves the building, and we do a full set up on any uke with a list price of over $99.95 . That means your uke will be ready to play right out of the box ( or case on many models) , with setup action, dressed frets, oiled fingerboards, etc.
That's right , our ukuleles aren't Hawaiian and neither are we. That's why we don't have some exotic sounding Hawaiian name on our ukes.
We don't even sell OO-Koo-lay-lees , we sell YOU-Koo-lay-less, because ay Lucky Penny, the emphasis is on YOU!
